China Type Design employs a highly experienced Asian team of font design and production experts, led by Ricky Chun and Robin Hui.

Ricky Chun, Managing Director
Ricky Chun heads China Type Design as managing director. He began his career at the company 14 years ago as a developer of PostScript®-compatible font programs and in-house production tools. Since then, Chun has held positions in sales, marketing, technical support and product development. He has been instrumental in producing Chinese font products for the graphic design and creative professional markets. Chun has worked with Monotype Imaging on various type production and development projects to serve a wide range of customers. Most recently, he was involved in the development of Monotype Imaging’s patent-pending SmartHint™ technology which enables the high-quality display of complex East Asian characters at small sizes on devices such as mobile phones. Chun earned a masters degree in Australia and began his professional life as a software engineer specializing in publishing systems.

Robin Hui, Chief Typographer and Production Manager
Robin Hui joined China Type Design 18 years ago as a typographer, bringing with him a love for the art of typography and experience working as a typesetter. In addition to his extensive knowledge on type aesthetics, Hui’s expertise on various writing styles of different Asian locales is highly valued within the company. As chief typographer and production manager, Hui manages China Type’s type design team and is responsible for a variety of font projects.
