Font Management

For personal computer users who have collected large libraries of fonts, selecting and managing fonts may be a cumbersome and time-consuming task. With Monotype Imaging’s Font Manager™ utility, users can easily install, de-install and manage fonts on their Microsoft® Windows® platform. Font Manager provides OEMs with compatibility and additional functionality to HP’s FontSmart™ utility.

Feature set includes the ability to:
• install/de-install fonts
• view font samples on-screen
• print font catalog
• sort alphabetically and by format
• create font groups

Pre-configured font sets are available for OEMs to choose from. Custom sets can be configured to meet specific market needs. Standard configurations include fonts that ship with the FontSmart utility, HP’s Laserjet® printers as well as PostScript®-based printers.

The Font Manager has three major components:

• a font installer which automatically installs the fonts
• a font management system
• a MicroType® to TrueType® font generator that creates high quality, hinted TrueType fonts from the compressed MicroType format. Storing fonts in the MicroType format reduces product distribution costs
